Dallas is about 37 miles south of Melissa. The 2026 North Texas Giving Day campaign collected more than $76 million from 94,700 donors by midnight on Sept. 17, with contributions benefiting nonprofits across the region. Communities Foundation of Texas organized the 18th annual event.
More than 3,300 organizations received support across 25 cause areas, including education, health, social services, arts, environmental work and animal welfare. The preliminary 2026 total was higher than the $74.2 million raised from 94,000 donors at the comparable point in 2025. That earlier campaign ultimately totaled $78 million after gifts were processed through Sept. 30.
Since the fundraiser started in 2009, donors have contributed $788 million to North Texas nonprofits. Dallas proclaimed Sept. 17, 2026, North Texas Giving Day. Amazon, the presenting sponsor, also contributed to 15 participating nonprofits.
Communities Foundation of Texas and sponsors covered transaction and technology costs for gifts made through NorthTexasGivingDay.org, sending the entire tax-deductible contribution to the selected nonprofit. The platform remains available year-round for cause campaigns, matching fundraisers, corporate group gifts and nonprofit-led fundraising. The next event is set for Sept. 16, 2027.
