Houston elevated rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond from its practice squad, the team's second standard practice-squad elevation for the game after veteran safety and special-teams player George Odum. Bond was selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft with the 204th overall pick, released during the move to 53 players and later returned to the practice squad.
The call-up gives Bond two more practice-squad elevations before Houston must add him to its 53-man roster or select another player. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to play ahead of him at receiver, and the extent of Bond's role was not provided.
Before the draft, NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein cited Bond's reliable hands and contested-catch ability, while noting concerns about separation against press and man coverage. Zierlein said motion or bunch formations could help Bond contribute.
