Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway remains doubtful for the Week 3 matchup with Louisiana Tech because of an ankle sprain. The junior was injured in the season-opening loss to Auburn, which he played after transferring from Florida. The injury then kept him out of Baylor's victory over Prairie View A&M.
Nate Bennett is expected to start if Lagway is unavailable. In his first start, Bennett completed 26 passes on 34 attempts, producing 314 yards and three touchdown passes. He added 13 rushing yards and a touchdown, but also threw two interceptions. Edward Griffin is listed as the second quarterback on the depth chart, followed by Quinn Murphy.
A report says the injury is not expected to sideline Lagway for a month or more. His availability for an emergency against Louisiana Tech has not been determined. Baylor coach Dave Aranda said earlier in the week that Lagway participated in a Monday walkthrough and that his status would depend on his practice work.
On3's Pete Nakos reported that Baylor is hoping Lagway can return for the Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday.
