The University of Houston Football team has announced that offensive guard Shadre Hurst has been named to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This recognition highlights Hurst's impressive skills and performance on the field.
Earlier this month, he was also featured on the Preseason Watch Lists for both the Lombardi Trophy and the Outland Trophy. Hurst has a strong connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their time at Tulane, where he earned All-American status and was recognized with All-AAC honors.
Hurst has shown remarkable abilities, achieving an 80.0 pass block grade since 2023, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has allowed only one sack throughout over 1,200 passing snaps, demonstrating his reliability. In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth among guards nationally by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
During his time at Tulane, he played a significant role in winning three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, allowing just one sack over four seasons.
The Cougars will kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with kickoff set for 11 a.m.
