DJ Lagway's ankle injury has left his status uncertain as Baylor approaches games against Louisiana Tech and Colorado. Lagway is considered doubtful for Saturday's matchup with Louisiana Tech, while reports have pointed to a possible return for Baylor's Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.
Lagway hurt the ankle in Baylor's 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn but stayed on the field, throwing for 333 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. A wrap was visible on the ankle afterward. He did not play against Prairie View A&M, when Nate Bennett completed 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards in a 44-3 Baylor win.
Bennett also had three passing touchdowns and a rushing score.
Coach Dave Aranda recently said Lagway felt good at a Sunday practice, and the quarterback was expected to take part in the week's work. On3 reporter Pete Nakos said Lagway is projected to be available against Colorado. Baylor is monitoring the recovery cautiously and will play Louisiana Tech before Big 12 competition begins.
Colorado is scheduled to play Northwestern before its trip to Baylor. The Sept. 26 game is set for 10 a.m. MT and could feature Lagway against Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis if Lagway returns.
