The Dallas Cowboys are turning to rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham to communicate defensive calls in their Week 2 NFC East meeting with the Washington Commanders, Sportingnews.com reported. Barham will face Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels as Dallas makes the change under defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Barham is set to wear the green dot for the game. The Michigan product was selected in the third round and is taking on the assignment after Dallas surrendered 28 points in its Week 1 loss to the New York Giants and had difficulty slowing the Giants’ offense.
Dallas and Washington both opened the season with losses to division opponents. The Cowboys’ offense against Washington’s defense, along with Barham’s management of the defensive responsibilities, are key developments ahead of the matchup.
