McKinney is preparing to host its annual Red, White and Boom celebration this weekend, marking Independence Day with a full day of activities. The city has released a detailed schedule for the free event, which includes a morning parade, a downtown block party, and an evening concert featuring live music, drones, and fireworks.
The day begins with a parade scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on July 4. Floats are expected to travel north along Tennessee Street and south along Kentucky Street. Following the procession, the East Louisiana Block Party will take place in downtown McKinney from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can view a map of the parade route, block party area, and designated parking lots on the city’s official website.
Festivities will shift to Towne Lake Park, located at 14015 Wilson Creek Parkway, starting at 6 p.m. The evening program includes live musical performances and a combined drone and fireworks display. The aerial show is scheduled to begin at 9:40 p.m., with fireworks launched from the nearby Grady Littlejohn Softball Fields.
McKinney is about 7 miles south of Melissa.
To accommodate the expected crowd, the city has identified several parking options. Attendees may park at the First McKinney Baptist Church at 1615 W. Louisiana St. or the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex at 1986 Park View Ave. and take a shuttle to Towne Lake Park. Those preferring to walk can use lots at the McKinney Senior Recreation Center at 1400 S. College St. or the Collin Central Appraisal District at 250 Eldorado Parkway. Parking will not be available at McKinney High School.
