Avelo Airlines has identified five nonstop destinations for its inaugural service at McKinney National Airport (DTX). The carrier will operate flights to Las Vegas, Nevada, and four Florida locations: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa. These routes are scheduled to begin on November 11, 2026, aligning with the opening of a newly constructed passenger terminal at the airport.
The airline will provide service from McKinney to these destinations on a schedule running from Wednesday through Monday. The launch timing allows travelers to utilize the new service for the Veterans Day holiday period. McKinney is located approximately 7 miles south of Melissa.
Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, described the carrier as the anchor tenant and launch airline for the airport. He stated that the airline intends to base two aircraft at DTX, citing a long-term commitment to the region. Levy noted that this investment is expected to create more than 100 new jobs, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents. He characterized McKinney as a community on the rise and expressed pride in establishing the airline as a local presence.
City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, stating that the new service reflects demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He added that the development reinforces McKinney’s role in the region’s future growth and its appeal to residents, businesses, and investors. Cox thanked Avelo Airlines for its confidence in the regional market.
The launch of flights coincides with the completion of a 46,000-square-foot passenger terminal at 1910 FM 546 in McKinney. The facility will initially feature four boarding gates, with capacity to expand to six. Amenities include centralized food and beverage concessions, open hold rooms, a 980-space public parking lot, and onsite car rental and ground transportation services.
