Avelo Airlines has announced it will launch commercial service at McKinney National Airport, establishing itself as the first and only hometown airline for Collin County. The new route network begins on November 11, 2026, with nonstop flights connecting the region to Las Vegas and four cities in Florida. McKinney is located approximately 7 miles south of Melissa.
The initial schedule includes departures to Fort Myers, Florida, on the first day of service. Flights to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Orlando, Florida, will commence on November 12. Service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starts on November 19, while Tampa, Florida, is also listed as a destination in the carrier's expansion plans. The airline will utilize 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft based at the airport, known by the code DTX.
Avelo plans to create more than 100 new local jobs through this Texas-based base. Introductory one-way fares are starting at $99. Bookings made through July will include the first checked bag at no additional cost. Reservations can be made through the airline's website.
Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo, stated the company was built for this expansion and expressed excitement about becoming the anchor airline at McKinney. He highlighted the airline's low fares, the convenience of the local airport, and its on-time performance record as key benefits for travelers. Levy noted that as a Texas-born company, Avelo is eager to grow its presence in one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States.
McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, noting that the new service reflects the demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He stated that the development reinforces McKinney’s position as a destination for residents, businesses, and investment. Cox thanked the airline for its confidence in the regional market.
