Mariners Take Late Lead
The Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros 3-2 on Sunday, August 16, at Daikin Park. The contest was defined by power hitting, as each team connected with two home runs to drive in their respective scores.
The Mariners utilized their leadoff hitter effectively to establish an early advantage, while the Astros fought back in the middle innings to keep the game within reach until the sixth.
Scoring Sequence
Yandy Diaz did not score, but the Mariners struck first in the top of the first inning. Arozarena launched a 365-foot home run to left center, putting Seattle ahead 1-0. Houston did not respond until the bottom of the third.

Pitching Performance
Bryan Woo earned the win for the Mariners. He pitched six innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs while walking one batter and striking out five. Hunter Brown took the loss for Houston.
He threw five innings, surrendering three hits and two earned runs, while issuing five walks and recording five strikeouts. The Mariners used four relievers to close the game. Eduard Bazardo pitched one inning with one hit and no earned runs.
