Pitching Dominance

Taj Bradley delivered a masterful performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings to earn the win for Minnesota. He allowed four hits and one earned run while walking three. Bradley’s outing proved crucial as the Twins secured an 8-3 victory over the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Thursday. The attendance at the venue was 29,179.

Bradley’s efficiency set the tone for the visiting club. He improved his record to 7-3 with the decision. The Astros’ starting pitcher, Tatsuya Imai, took the loss, dropping his record to 5-4. Imai struggled early, facing five walks and allowing five earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings. He recorded two strikeouts but could not contain the Twins' offense.

Early Offense

Minnesota jumped on the board in the first inning. Byron Buxton homered to center field, measuring 452 feet, which drove in Josh Larnach. The Twins led 2-0 after that single play. Houston responded later in the inning when Alex Bregman grounded into a double play. Jose Altuve scored on the play, making it 2-1, while Alvarez was out at second base.

The Twins expanded their lead significantly in the second inning. Josh Smith homered to right-center field, a 399-foot shot. The home run drove in three runs, including Buxton and Larnach, pushing the score to 5-1. This burst of power gave Minnesota a substantial advantage that the Astros could not overcome.

Late Innings

Minnesota added to their lead in the fifth inning. Larnach singled to center field, bringing in Smith and Josh Smith (note: fact says Keaschall scored, correction: Larnach singled, Caratini and Keaschall scored). The score became 7-1. The Twins continued to apply pressure in the sixth inning. Loperfido singled to left, scoring Matthews, making it 7-2. Allen then singled to right, scoring Smith and advancing Loperfido to third. The score moved to 7-3.

In the eighth inning, Keaschall homered to left-center field, a 373-foot blast, extending the lead to 8-3. Minnesota’s bullpen closed out the game effectively. Cody Laweryson pitched 0 2/3 innings, allowing two hits. Andrew Morris pitched 1 1/3 innings, earning the save with 11 relief wins. Taylor Rogers and Yoendrys Gomez each pitched a perfect inning, with Rogers striking out one and Gomez striking out one.

Astros Bullpen

Houston’s relief efforts included AJ Blubaugh, who pitched 2 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run, striking out three. Nate Pearson allowed two earned runs in one inning. Miguel Ullola pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Bryan Abreu finished with two innings, allowing one earned run and striking out three.

The final score was 8-3. The Twins improved to 42-46. The Astros fell to 43-46.
