Trevor Goosby, the Melissa native who has spent two seasons protecting the blind side for the Texas Longhorns, will miss the rest of the 2026 season with a left knee injury, ESPN reported Sunday, citing sources.
Goosby, a 6-foot-7, 325-pound senior left tackle, went down while pass blocking in the first quarter of Saturday's 34-27 win over Ole Miss in Austin. He could not put weight on the leg and was taken off the field on a cart, according to Burnt Orange Nation, and he watched the rest of the game on crutches.
Senior Andre Cojoe played the remainder of the game at left tackle.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game that he did not have details on the injury yet. "Obviously, neither of them look very good," he said, speaking of Goosby and wide receiver Cam Coleman, who hurt his shoulder in the third quarter.
A second knee scare this year
It is the second time this year Goosby's left knee has sidelined him. He bruised a bone in the same knee midway through preseason camp in August, ESPN reported, but recovered in time to start each of the Longhorns' first seven games.
He has 22 starts over three seasons at Texas, according to ESPN, and The Daily Texan counts 36 career appearances in his fourth year with the program.
Southeastern Conference coaches voted him first-team All-SEC in 2025, his first season as the starting left tackle, and he entered this fall on the preseason watch lists for the Lombardi Award and the Outland Trophy, the student newspaper reported.
