Four officials who represent Melissa residents in Washington, Austin and McKinney are on the program for the Melissa Chamber of Commerce's October legislative update, set for the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The chamber lists U.S. Rep. Keith Self, state Rep. Jeff Leach, Collin County Judge Chris Hill and Collin County Tax Assessor-Collector Scott Grigg as speakers. The event runs from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Crossland building, the red building at 1904 Cooper St., with doors opening at 7:45 a.m. for breakfast.

According to the chamber's listing, the morning is meant to let business owners and residents hear directly from county, state and federal officials about the decisions and issues shaping the county and the district. Registration is through the chamber's online calendar; the listing does not give a ticket price. Community Waste Disposal is listed as the presenting sponsor.

The breakfast falls during early voting, which opens Oct. 19 and closes Oct. 30 ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3. Residents who are not yet registered have until Monday, Oct. 5, to sign up.
