Lee’s two homers carry Giants past Rangers, 5-1

San Francisco Giants 5, Texas Rangers 1: Lee homered twice and drove in three runs Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Globe Life Field, where San Francisco built the lead and Texas did not score until the ninth inning. The Giants finished with five runs, and the Rangers finished with one.

Logan Webb earned the win for San Francisco, improving to 7-7. He worked 6.0 innings, allowed five hits and one walk, and struck out eight. Cal Quantrill took the loss for Texas, falling to 4-4, after 6.0 innings with four hits, one earned run, one walk and four strikeouts.

San Francisco scores first

San Francisco went ahead in the top of the second inning. Gilbert singled to right, and Susac scored on a fielding error by right fielder Nimmo as Gilbert moved to third. Basabe followed with a sacrifice fly to right, bringing in Gilbert and making it 2-0.

The Giants added another run in the top of the third. Lee homered to right center, a 410-foot drive, to extend San Francisco’s lead to 3-0. That was the first of his two home runs in the game.

Lee adds late damage

The score stayed 3-0 until the top of the eighth, when Lee hit another home run to right center. That one traveled 385 feet and pushed the Giants ahead 4-0.

San Francisco scored its final run in the top of the ninth. Lee hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring McCray for a 5-0 lead.

Texas answered in the bottom of the ninth with its only run. Duran homered to left, a 406-foot drive, cutting the final margin to 5-1. It was the third home run of the game, following Lee’s two for San Francisco.

Pitching and records

For San Francisco, Keaton Winn pitched 0.2 innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout for his 12th hold. Sam Hentges worked 1.1 innings with no hits, no earned runs, one walk and one strikeout for his seventh hold. Tristan Beck allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk in 0.1 innings.

Reiver Sanmartin pitched 0.2 innings with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and no strikeouts.

For Texas, Ben Peoples pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, one walk and one strikeout. Peyton Gray allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk in 1.0 inning. Nolan Kingham allowed one hit, one earned run and two walks with one strikeout in 1.0 inning.
