Angel Offense Explodes
The Los Angeles Angels delivered a dominant offensive performance on Thursday, defeating the Texas Rangers 13-1 at Globe Life Field. Adell led the charge for Los Angeles with two home runs, while Grissom contributed significantly with multiple hits. The Angels' bats were too much for the Rangers pitching staff, who struggled to contain the visitors from the opening inning.
Early Runs Set Tone
Los Angeles established control early in the first inning. Grissom singled to left field, allowing Neto to score and give the Angels a 1-0 lead. The gap widened in the fourth inning when Adell launched a 359-foot home run to right field, driving in Grissom for a 3-0 advantage. The Angels continued to pile on runs in the fifth. Grissom singled to left again, bringing Neto home to make it 4-0. Shortly after, Adell hit a massive 433-foot home run to center field, scoring both Trout and Grissom in a three-run burst that extended the lead to 7-0.
Continued Pressure
The Angels did not slow down in the sixth inning. Grissom doubled to right field, and Lowe and Neto crossed the plate to increase the margin to 9-0. Los Angeles added two more runs in the eighth inning when Trout homered to left center (438 feet), scoring Lowe to make it 11-0. The Rangers managed to get on the board in the same frame when Higashioka hit a 389-foot home run to left center, narrowing the score to 11-1. The Angels capped their scoring in the ninth inning. Peraza hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Adell, and Siri singled to left to bring Guzman home, finalizing the 13-1 score.
Pitching and Records
Walbert Urena started for the Angels, pitching 4.0 innings and allowing one hit and zero earned runs while striking out three. Samy Natera Jr. earned the win with 2.0 scoreless innings and five strikeouts. Ryan Zeferjahn, Jose Fermin, and Mitch Farris closed out the game, combining to allow two earned runs. For Texas, MacKenzie Gore took the loss after giving up seven earned runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings, though he struck out seven batters. Gavin Collyer, Ben Peoples, Robby Ahlstrom, and Kyle Higashioka also pitched for the Rangers, with Higashioka also contributing offensively. The Angels improved to 37-56, while the Rangers fell to 46-46.
