MacKenzie Gore gave Texas 6.0 innings with three hits, no earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts. The Rangers needed the last of Duran’s three run-scoring hits after San Francisco tied the game in the ninth.
Texas builds the first lead
Texas scored twice in the first inning. Nimmo doubled to right, bringing in Pederson and moving Seager to third for a 1-0 Rangers lead. Duran followed with a single to right that scored Seager and sent Nimmo to third, making it 2-0.
San Francisco’s first scoring play came in the seventh. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot drive that also scored Gilbert, tying the game at 2-2. It was the only home run of the game.
Duran answers twice late
The Rangers moved back in front in the eighth. Duran doubled to right, scoring Langford and Seager while Nimmo advanced to third. That swing gave Texas a 4-2 lead.
