Rangers Offense Explodes Late

The Texas Rangers secured a decisive 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The game remained tightly contested through the middle innings, but a five-run eighth inning ultimately separated the two clubs.

The Rangers took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Soler doubled to left field, driving in Schanuel for the opening run. Lowe followed with a single to center field, scoring Soler to extend the advantage.

The Angels responded in the second inning. Lopez singled to left, allowing Carter and Osuna to score, tying the game at 2-2. Lopez advanced to second base on the play.

Pitching Duels and Late Runs

Pitching performances defined the early stages of the contest. For Texas, Jacob deGrom started, pitching five innings. He allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven batters. Cole Winn contributed a scoreless inning, followed by Chris Martin, who allowed one earned run in his frame.

On the Angels' side, Jose Soriano pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts. Tayler Saucedo took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing one earned run on two hits. Sam Bachman struggled in relief, surrendering five earned runs on six hits in 0.2 innings before being relieved by Brent Suter, who pitched 0.1 innings with one strikeout.

The Rangers regained the lead in the seventh inning when Meckler singled to left, scoring Peraza to make it 3-2. The Angels tied the game again later in the seventh when Foscue hit a 387-foot home run to left field.

Decisive Eighth Inning

The game was decided in the bottom of the eighth inning. Duran singled to left, scoring Smith to put the Rangers ahead 4-3. Foscue then singled to left, scoring Burger to extend the lead to 5-3.

The final blow came when Osuna homered to right field (364 feet), driving in Duran and Foscue to make the score 8-3. This three-run blast capped the five-run eighth-inning rally.

Closing Out the Game

The Rangers' bullpen closed out the final two innings without allowing any further runs. Peyton Gray pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, earning the win. Tyler Alexander closed the game with a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.

The final attendance was 23,816 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The victory improved the Rangers' record to 46-45. The Angels fell to 36-56.
