The Dallas Cowboys completed their roster adjustments to comply with the NFL's 53-player limit this weekend, leading to the release of several key players. Notable cuts included second-year running back Jaydon Blue and quarterback Joe Milton III, who had shown promise during the preseason. The team also parted ways with former second-round pick Sam Williams.
In a strategic move, the Cowboys added running back Emari Demercado from waivers and brought in offensive tackle Wanya Morris. Many players who were released were retained by being placed on the practice squad, which now features a diverse group of rookies and veterans, including Israel Abanikanda, Jordan Hudson, and Tommy Dunn.
Several players made a strong impression during the preseason, such as wide receiver Jordan Hudson and defensive tackle Tommy Dunn. Linebacker Justin Barron, who transitioned from safety, excelled in coverage, while Reddy Steward demonstrated reliability in the defensive backfield.
Some players who were waived found new opportunities, with Julius Wood joining the Miami Dolphins and guard Trevor Keegan signing with the Minnesota Vikings. Sam Williams, who had recorded 8.5 sacks in his first two seasons, is now with the Cleveland Browns after facing challenges in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Jaydon Blue, along with defensive backs Zion Childress and Trikweze Bridges, has also signed with other NFL practice squads, marking a new chapter in their careers.
