Dalton Schultz may have a larger role in Houston's passing attack when the Texans face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, depending on Nico Collins' availability.
Collins injured his hamstring during Houston's Wednesday practice, according to a report from SI.com that cited ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Texans do not consider the injury serious, but it is not yet clear whether Collins will play. The report included no conclusive status update for the Cincinnati matchup.
Houston could also take a careful approach because Collins previously sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that led to a stint on injured reserve.
Schultz led the Texans in receptions in 2025, with 82 catches for 777 yards. His workload increased last season when Collins exited Houston's Week 7 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Schultz received 10 targets in that contest and finished with nine receptions for 98 yards. If Collins is unavailable, those numbers point to Schultz as one possible beneficiary of a changed receiving distribution.
