As the Texas Longhorns gear up for the 2026 football season, the evaluation of the left guard position is ongoing. Laurence Seymore, a transfer from Western Kentucky, is currently in line to start after being part of the first-team offensive line during the team’s initial fall scrimmage.

However, the coaching staff is considering several other candidates for this crucial role. Among them is Dylan Sikorski, who joined from Oregon State and has prior experience, having started six games at left guard last season. Jaydon Chatman is also being evaluated, along with Cole Hutson, who brings valuable depth with over 1,000 offensive snaps played at Texas.

With no immediate pressure to finalize the left guard selection, head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood continue to assess the situation. Sarkisian noted that successful offensive line performance hinges on more than individual skills; communication and team chemistry are essential, especially against competitive opponents.

Sarkisian has stressed the need for continuity on the offensive line to safeguard quarterback Arch Manning. The first-team line showed promising cohesion during the scrimmage, indicating a solid foundation. If Seymore secures the starting position, it could lead to stability, but the Longhorns remain flexible, ready to adjust based on game performance, reflecting their depth and strategic planning as the new season approaches.
