Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins will miss the matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring injury at Wednesday's practice. He was absent from Houston's final two practices, then was designated out on the team's last injury report.
The Texans expect Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel to be among the players handling additional receiving work. Jayden Higgins will not be available after an ACL injury ended his season. C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in Houston's season opener, giving the team several receiving options as it seeks its first win.
Collins opened the season with seven catches, 75 yards and one touchdown in a 36-31 defeat against Buffalo. He has been one of Houston's leading offensive contributors during the last three seasons. His availability for the Week 3 contest against the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined.
Aaron Wilson reported that Collins' status is still being evaluated, and no additional information about his return was provided.
