The Houston Texans have made roster adjustments following injuries sustained in their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Graham Mertz has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list after an MRI confirmed a season-ending knee injury. Rookie running back Joshua Pitsenberger has also been added to injured reserve due to an ankle injury incurred late in the match.

Mertz's injury occurred shortly before halftime, contributing to the Texans' ongoing injury challenges, which included other players like Ja'Marcus Ingram, who is dealing with a shoulder issue, Collin Wright with a soft tissue strain, and Jake Hansen, who has an ankle injury. Despite these setbacks, the Texans have managed to keep their starting lineup mostly unchanged, aside from linebacker E.J.

Speed, who was injured earlier in the offseason.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans and his coaching staff are likely to closely assess their options as they prepare for further roster changes during training camp. The team is concentrating on maintaining depth and performance as they progress through the preseason. More details regarding additional roster moves are expected as the Texans evaluate the impact of these injuries on their upcoming games.
