Jake Hummel is set to miss at least four games after the Texans placed the linebacker on injured reserve Saturday. He can be considered for a return to the active roster only after that four-game absence.
Hummel suffered the groin injury during Houston’s Week 1 loss to the Bills and has not practiced since. The injured-reserve move was reported by CBS Sports, which cited Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
Jake Hansen is expected to remain a starting linebacker while Hummel is unavailable. Hansen is projected to start alongside Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher. The roster change leaves Hummel out of the Texans’ lineup for at least the next four games, with a possible return to the active roster to be considered after that period.
