The Houston Texans are adjusting their strategy for the upcoming 2026 NFL season following the injury of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.
Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his absence has led the Texans to seek additional support at the position, particularly as other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also dealing with injuries.
In light of these challenges, the Texans are reportedly considering free agency options, with a focus on veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a productive 2023 season with 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Zay Jones, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, recorded 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.
Both Reynolds and Jones have faced their share of challenges in recent seasons, but the Texans are evaluating them as potential additions to enhance their receiving options. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is conducting workouts for free agent receivers, indicating that Reynolds and Jones are among the candidates being considered.
