The Houston Texans have made a move to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte announced the trade on social media prior to any official confirmation from the teams involved. Reports suggest that the Texans traded safety Jaylen Reed along with a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to obtain Boutte.
This trade follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside standout receiver Nico Collins. He had a notable rookie season, achieving 41 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a successful previous season, recording 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a substantial contract earlier this year.
Alongside Boutte, the Texans also added veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend as they seek to address the gap created by Higgins' injury. The Texans' strategy for the upcoming season remains to be fully revealed.
