A temporary restraining order from a Dallas court has permitted 18 college football players, including SMU's Ahmaad Moses, to return for an additional year of eligibility in the 2026 season. This decision comes just prior to the college football season and follows the Wisne v. NCAA ruling from July 31, which allowed athletes graduating high school in 2022 to extend their eligibility.
The NCAA's appeal of that ruling has been overridden by this new injunction.
Moses, who was named First Team All-ACC in 2025, has played in 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. He played a key role in the team's achievements, which included winning a conference title in 2023 and making a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
In the previous season, he led the Mustangs with a total of 104 tackles, five interceptions, 5.5 tackles for loss, and two fumble recoveries.
One of his most notable performances occurred during a game against Miami (FL), where he achieved a career-high of 15 tackles and made two interceptions, contributing to an overtime win.
After declaring for the NFL Draft following the 2025 season, Moses faced challenges due to a herniated disk that required spinal fusion surgery, which impacted his NFL prospects and allowed him to qualify for the return under the ACC's new eligibility guidelines.
