The New England Patriots have made a notable roster change by trading wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. In return, the Patriots received Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028.

At 24 years old, Boutte faced limited opportunities in New England after the team signed AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs, along with other receivers like DeMario Douglas and Mack Hollins. Head coach Mike Vrabel stated that this trade would provide Boutte with a better chance to contribute with the Texans, as he would likely have remained inactive otherwise.

Boutte's performance last season included 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns across 14 games. Vrabel acknowledged the difficulty of the decision to trade Boutte, emphasizing his positive attitude and growth as a player. As he joins the Texans, Boutte is expected to serve as a backup behind established starters Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel, although his specific role remains uncertain.
