Dallas will use practice-squad reinforcements at linebacker for its Week 2 home opener against the Washington Commanders, elevating Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron. The moves come as DeMarvion Overshown manages a hamstring injury, with Dallas yet to announce when he might return. The team chose not to bring in a veteran for the game.
Robinson and Barron give the Cowboys additional linebacker choices and can contribute on special teams. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that rookie Jaishawn Barham is set to wear the helmet with the green dot while Overshown is unavailable.
Overshown was one of three Dallas players fined after the Cowboys lost to the New York Giants, 20-28, in Week 1. The NFL assessed him $9,527 for a late hit involving quarterback Jaxson Dart. Outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 for a fourth-quarter facemask, and running back Javonte Williams received the same amount for taunting-related unsportsmanlike conduct.

The report pointed to improved interior defensive play as an important area.
