Jalen Thompson became the third Dallas Cowboys starting secondary player affected by injury as the team faces Baltimore in Week 3. Thompson hurt his left leg while trying to make a tackle in the second quarter, then left the field after he could not put weight on it.
He went to the blue medical tent and was listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
Malik Hooker has been out since suffering a forearm injury in Week 1. Starting cornerback Cobie Durant was sidelined by a hamstring problem in Week 2, and PJ Locke, who replaced Hooker, is unavailable because of a foot injury.
The Cowboys promoted slot defender Reddy Steward from the practice squad before the game. Rookie first-round selection Caleb Downs, who has college experience at safety, has also been on the practice squad. Alijah Clark took over at safety after Thompson’s departure, joining Markquese Bell.
Bell was penalized for defensive pass interference on a play that helped set up Derrick Henry’s touchdown in the first half. Additional information about Thompson’s condition and any defensive adjustments was not available.
