Hero Kanu, a defensive lineman for Texas, has advanced to the semifinal stage for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23. Burnt Orange Nation reported that the source provided no further details about Kanu’s selection.
The award honors a scholarship athlete based on academic performance, on-field play and leadership. Kanu’s selection continues Texas’ recent presence in the award process. The Longhorns have produced finalists in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, after center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024.
Texas has had two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the award in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho followed in 2010.
