George Pickens has been moved from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys. Mike Tomlin, the former head coach of the Steelers, provided details about this trade during his time on The Rich Eisen Show, indicating that the decision was largely based on Pickens' personal growth rather than solely his performance on the field.

Tomlin acknowledged Pickens' potential to excel but expressed concerns regarding his development in various intangible aspects. He mentioned, "For us, I just thought, it's not only play. It's development in other areas, intangible areas." These qualities were crucial for the Steelers as they evaluated Pickens' future, particularly in relation to the expectations tied to a significant second contract.

ESPN insider Dan Graziano pointed out that there was minimal interest from other franchises in pursuing Pickens with an offer sheet when the Cowboys placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on him. This situation has led to speculation that teams are observing whether Pickens can evolve into a more effective leader.

Tomlin noted, "A second contract didn't happen for us with George. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not gonna be a spectacular player." This suggests that while the Steelers had doubts about Pickens' readiness for a foundational role, the Cowboys might be more hopeful about his ability to develop.
