Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway's status for the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M is uncertain as he is currently considered day-to-day due to an ankle injury. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed that Lagway's availability will be determined by his performance in practice this week.

In his debut with Baylor, Lagway recorded 27 completions on 54 attempts for 333 yards, along with two touchdown passes and one interception, in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears failed to execute a critical two-point conversion late in the game, which contributed to their defeat.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's determination, highlighting his ability to keep playing despite the injury. Golesh noted, "If you’ve got any question on how tough that kid is, he got banged up early, and that is a tough, tough football player."

Lagway, who joined Baylor after two seasons with the Florida Gators, was a highly rated recruit, ranked No. 3 in his class. He previously started for Florida under head coach Billy Napier, but transferred following Napier's departure. Last season, Lagway concluded with 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, while Florida finished with a 4-8 record.

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remarked that Lagway needed a fresh start and expressed optimism about his future at Baylor, stating he would likely play with more joy and better performance. Further updates on Lagway's injury and game status are pending.
