Deal, an undrafted free agent from TCU, previously spent time with the Seattle Seahawks this spring. He recorded 176 total tackles and 13.0 sacks during his college career over two years at TCU and three seasons at Tulane.
In light of injuries affecting the team, including the absence of Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall, the Texans are exploring options to enhance their pass rush behind starters Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. Although the team recently signed linebacker Caleb Johnson, the current injury situation has prompted further roster considerations.
Deal was released by the Seahawks to accommodate new players, including undrafted rookie receivers Rashad Rochelle and Trayvon Rudolph. The Texans have also signed veteran receivers Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones while placing linebacker K.C. Ossai on injured reserve.
