The NFL has imposed a $500,000 fine on both the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints after a joint practice that saw multiple fights. This fine comes in the wake of a particularly physical session where over ten altercations occurred, including pushing and punches. Notably, Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected for throwing a punch, marking his second ejection during training camp.
Just two days after the joint practice, a new scuffle broke out during Cowboys practice, involving tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown. Reports indicate that Ferguson reacted to a tackle by throwing the ball at Overshown, although the situation was quickly resolved without escalating further.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer voiced his disappointment regarding the fights, indicating that they hindered the team’s ability to focus on practice. He stated, "We want to get the work done."
With the joint practices now behind them, the Cowboys are set to face the Arizona Cardinals in their next preseason game.
