P.J. Locke’s second game with the Dallas Cowboys ended with a foot injury during Washington’s opening possession, adding to the team’s defensive concerns in its home opener.
Locke moved toward a tackle and then appeared to favor the foot before contact, according to a FOX replay. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room without assistance.
Dallas had already ruled out safety Malik Hooker because of a forearm injury. The Cowboys signed Locke to a one-year contract worth $4 million during the offseason, following his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. He made two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described its report as breaking news subject to further updates.
