Laken Tomlinson is leaving Dallas for Green Bay after the Packers agreed to sign the guard, a move reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Dallas now has two offensive linemen on its practice squad. Tomlinson joined the Cowboys earlier this month after All-Pro guard Tyler Smith had thumb surgery and went on injured reserve.
Tomlinson, 34, did not appear in Dallas’ first two games, and his Packers debut date is unknown. Detroit chose him in the first round of the 2015 draft. Across 11 NFL seasons, he has played 173 games, starting 162, and earned the 2021 Pro Bowl with San Francisco. His other teams have been the Jets, Seahawks and Texans, including 10 games for Houston in 2025.
Marcellus Johnson and Wanya Morris are Dallas’ remaining practice-squad linemen. Johnson is listed at tackle and has no NFL game appearances. Morris has lined up at both left and right tackle in three seasons. Smith can return after Week 4.
Green Bay’s line has been affected by injuries. Aaron Banks and Zach Bako-Bewele missed Week 3, and Bako-Bewele will miss the rest of the season with a torn patellar tendon. Jordan Love has been sacked eight times, while Pro Football Focus credits the Packers with 57 pressures allowed through three games.
Tomlinson surrendered three sacks and 11 pressures with Houston last season. Dallas is set to play at Green Bay in Week 6, and no further information was given about Tomlinson’s role.
