Von Miller has officially signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, marking a significant move as the team works to strengthen its defense. This comes amid a broader defensive overhaul that includes around six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker.
Miller, who recorded nine sacks in 2025 while playing for the Washington Commanders, is expected to contribute his experience to the Cowboys.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has expressed confidence in Miller's abilities, highlighting his sharp football intellect and impressive speed. Schottenheimer indicated that while Miller may not be on the field for every play, his presence is anticipated to improve the team's defensive performance. He praised Miller's understanding of the game, noting his expertise in angles and diverse moves.
In the previous season, Miller participated in 17 games for the Commanders, starting three and logging 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. It is anticipated that he will have a similar role in Dallas, likely entering during crucial situations such as third downs.
Miller's career achievements include being the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft from Texas A&M, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
