Baylor will be without defensive tackle Devonte Tezino for the rest of the season after he was injured in the Bears’ victory over Prairie View A&M. Tezino made an early impact with two sacks against Auburn, and coach Dave Aranda said Baylor would feel the loss of the effort that helped him reach that performance level.

Aranda had called Tezino one of Baylor’s top performers at defensive tackle following the season opener. His injury is expected to increase the workload for the defensive linemen who remain. Braylen Jackson could see more chances after contributing against the run. Aranda described Jackson as physical and said his run defense gives the team confidence.

Baylor began the season with its defensive line regarded as a major strength, but the group’s depth will be tested for the rest of the schedule. The Bears were already without senior safety and defensive leader Jacob Redding, who suffered a torn ACL before the opener against Auburn.
