Baylor has offered Bear Acy, a five-star basketball prospect in the 2029 class who is ranked No. 7 nationally. Acy, who is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches, has not announced a decision, and the report says more offers are likely.
The prospect is described as having the size to help on both sides of the court. His defensive abilities include protecting the rim, interrupting passing lanes, and producing blocks and deflections.
Acy is the son of Quincy Acy, who played forward for Baylor from 2008 through 2012. Quincy Acy earned All-Big 12 Defensive Team recognition for the 2011-12 season and was known for scoring, rebounding and blocking shots near the basket. If Bear Acy commits to Baylor, Scott Drew would have the chance to coach another member of that family.
Drew coached Quincy Acy throughout his four Baylor seasons. Drew became Baylor's head coach in 2003 after working as an assistant at Valparaiso under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew. It is not known whether that family connection will affect Bear Acy's choice.
