Jacob Fields, a former safety for TCU, has been charged with aggravated assault by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office after an incident that occurred on August 13. The charge was officially filed on September 23, alleging that Fields caused significant bodily harm to TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma during a locker room altercation.
The complaint details that Fields struck Ezukanma in the head and may have kicked him while he was on the ground. Ezukanma sustained a concussion and was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed resulting from the incident. Witnesses reported that Fields attacked Ezukanma from behind, leading to him losing consciousness.
Following the altercation, Fields surrendered to law enforcement on August 30. He was removed from the TCU football team on August 18. Afterward, Fields sent a message to Ezukanma expressing remorse for his actions. The incident reportedly arose from Fields' frustration regarding his practice performance.
Fields' agent, Philip Miller, issued a statement in support of him, highlighting the importance of self-defense. Additional specifics about the incident have not been made public.
