In a recent volleyball match against TCU, Texas Longhorns' outside hitter Abby Vander Wal had to leave the game due to a knee injury. The incident took place during the opening set when Vander Wal fell while scrambling on the left side of the court, remaining down and visibly in pain as she clutched her knee.
Training staff assisted her off the court since she was unable to put weight on her leg. Vander Wal did not return for the rest of the set, which the Longhorns won by sweeping TCU. Prior to her injury, she had made two kills and her topspin serve contributed to two scoring runs for Texas.
Details about the severity of Vander Wal's injury have not been disclosed, and the situation is still developing.
