Melissa’s animal-control arrangement with Collin County has been approved for another year, through September 30, 2027. County commissioners approved the extension on August 31; the county’s posted minutes identify it as Amendment 21 to the existing animal-control agreement.

The arrangement is the one Melissa residents already use for animal-control assistance. The city’s current services page directs residents to Collin County Animal Services in McKinney at 972-547-7292.

For residents searching for a lost pet, the city also points to the county service’s updates about animals on stray hold. The city and county animal-services pages are the places to check current contact and shelter information before traveling.

The extension preserves the county-service arrangement; the minutes do not specify a new program, service expansion or change in fees.
