The Melissa Cardinals and Rockwall Yellowjackets will meet on the field at 7 p.m. Thursday in a non-district high school football game. The contest is scheduled to take place at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium in Rockwall and will be part of the weekly broadcast lineup on KDFI 27 (FOX 4+) and the free FOX LOCAL app.
Both squads enter the matchup with identical 1-1 records. Melissa opened the season with a decisive victory over Pulaski Academy before suffering a double-digit loss to Denton Guyer in the second week of play. Rockwall began its campaign with a significant defeat to Prosper but responded with a substantial win against Dallas Jesuit in its most recent contest.
The broadcast features a familiar crew for North Texas high school football fans. Play-by-play announcer Doug Anderson and analyst LaDarrin McLane will team up for their 21st consecutive season providing commentary. Sideline reporter Chris Mycoskie will join the broadcast for his seventh straight year.
The FOX 4+ Game of the Week schedule continues through the fall season. Upcoming matchups include Allen at Prosper on Sept. 17, Frisco Wakeland at Denton Guyer on Sept. 24, and Fort Worth Benbrook versus Fort Worth Eastern Hills on Oct. 1.
The schedule also lists Trophy Club Byron Nelson at Keller on Oct. 8, Highland Park at Carrollton Creekview on Oct. 15, and Parish Episcopal versus Prestonwood on Oct. 23. Two additional dates, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, remain to be determined.
