The defensive line played a central role in the outcome, limiting Melissa to 88 total yards of offense, including only 64 yards on the ground.
Logan Lokey, a junior defensive end, recorded two sacks on Melissa's opening possession. These plays forced a punt and set the tone for the rest of the contest. The Guyer defensive front also includes three seniors committed to major college programs: Khyren Haywood to Texas Tech, Darrien Neal to TCU, and Zane Rowe to Oregon.
Linebackers Tristan Shelton, Drew Dickinson, and Landon De La Garza contributed to holding Melissa running back Jeremiah Tabor to 76 rushing yards, a significant drop from his 201-yard performance in the previous week.
On the offensive side, quarterback Carter Morgan completed 21 of 29 passes for 237 yards and one touchdown. He also added a three-yard rushing score. The offensive line, featuring Cullum Rushing, Collin Winder, Giancarlo Galizzi, Preston Doyle, Ryan Tyler, and Ryan Whitehead, provided consistent protection throughout the game.
Head coach Reed Heim noted the historical significance of the milestone, highlighting the program's journey since its inception in 2006. He pointed to the two state championships and three additional playoff appearances as evidence of the hard work by players, coaches, and the community.
