The Houston Cougars defeated the visiting UCF Knights 27-17 on Saturday, October 3, at TDECU Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game featured a dramatic shift in momentum, with Houston overcoming a 17-0 deficit to secure the victory. Conner Weigman was the pivotal factor, scoring three touchdowns in the second half to drive the Cougars’ comeback.
The final score reflected a dominant second-half performance by the home team, who outscored UCF 27-10 after the first two quarters.
UCF Builds Early Lead
UCF established an early advantage that put them in control for the first three quarters. Keyone Jenkins connected with Josh Derry on a 13-yard pass for a touchdown in the first quarter, giving the Knights a 7-0 lead. UCF extended their advantage in the second quarter with a 30-yard field goal by Will Stone, making it 10-0.
The Knights added another score in the third quarter when Jenkins rushed for a 5-yard touchdown, pushing their lead to 17-0. Jenkins had a strong game, passing for 253 yards on 23 of 35 attempts, with one touchdown and one interception. Josh Derry was a key target, catching seven passes for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Duke Watson contributed on the ground with 50 rushing yards on nine carries.
