Mets Take Control Early

The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros 6-2 on Saturday, August 29, at Citi Field in Queens, New York. Nolan McLean earned the win with a seven-inning performance, while Cristian Javier took the loss for the visitors. The crowd of 29,183 witnessed a game where the home team established a lead that they maintained until the final out.

Scoring Sequence

The Astros opened the scoring in the first inning when Luis Alvarez hit a sacrifice fly to right, allowing Jose Pena to score. The Mets tied the game in the bottom of the first inning. Pitching Performance

Nolan McLean was the standout pitcher for the Mets. He threw seven innings, allowing two hits, three walks, and no earned runs while striking out four batters. He finished with a record of 10-8.

Daniel Duarte entered the game and pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out two. Kodai Senga closed the game, pitching one inning with one hit, no earned runs, and no walks.

Astros Rotation

Cristian Javier started for the Astros. He pitched four and one-third innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters. He did not walk any batters.

His record now stands at 1-5. Enyel De Los Santos pitched two innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out two. Kai-Wei Teng pitched one inning, allowing three hits and two earned runs with no strikeouts.
