A One-Sided Affair

The Los Angeles Angels turned in a comprehensive offensive display to defeat the Houston Astros 18-3 at Daikin Park. Neto led the charge for the visitors, recording five hits and driving in seven runs across multiple innings. The victory improved the Angels’ record to 51-77, while the Astros fell to .500 at 64-64.

Early Inning Action

The game began with immediate scoring activity. Neto opened the scoring for Los Angeles in the first inning with a single to right field that plated Meckler, giving the Angels a 1-0 lead. Houston responded quickly in the same frame.

Jose Altuve grounded into a fielder's choice, allowing Wade Jr. to score on an error by third baseman Grissom. Alvarez then scored on a wild pitch by Angels pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, tying the game at 2-2 before another wild pitch allowed Alvarez to cross the plate again, making it 3-2 Houston.

The momentum shifted in the second inning. Grissom singled to center, and Ballesteros scored. Heineman followed with a sacrifice bunt that advanced Grissom home for a 4-2 Astros lead. Los Angeles answered later in the inning when Frazier’s ground ball resulted in an overturned challenge on the field, allowing Lowe to score and tie the game at 4-4.

Neto’s Offensive Surge

Neto took over in the fourth inning, driving in multiple runs to swing the game firmly into Angels hands. He doubled to center to score Lowe, then singled to left to bring Frazier home. Ballesteros added a single to left that scored both Trout and Meckler, extending the lead to 8-4.

Neto completed his four-hit night with a double to left in the fifth inning, scoring two more runs as Grissom homered to make it 11-4.

The Angels’ offense continued to pile on runs. In the ninth inning, Guzman hit a home run to left field, adding two more runs to the total. Smith contributed with a sacrifice fly that plated Varsho for Houston’s final run.

Pitching Performances

Grayson Rodriguez earned the win for Los Angeles, pitching seven scoreless innings while allowing five hits and striking out six. He was supported by Blake Weiman, who pitched two innings of relief, allowing one earned run and three strikeouts.

For the Astros, Peter Lambert took the loss after giving up nine earned runs in 3.2 innings. Bryan King struggled significantly, allowing five earned runs in just over one inning. Tatsuya Imai pitched three innings, surrendering two earned runs, while LaMonte Wade Jr. allowed two earned runs in his single inning of work.
