Commercial Metals Co. Finalizes Purchase of Fort Worth Rebar Firm

Commercial Metals Co. has completed the acquisition of Rebar Services and Supply Co., expanding its steel fabrication operations in North Texas.

Commercial Metals Co. has finalized the purchase of substantially all operating assets from Rebar Services and Supply Co. The transaction was completed on April 30, 2008. Rebar Services and Supply Co. is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and functions as a rebar fabricator serving the North Texas region.

The acquired company was established in 1982 and employs approximately 30 individuals. Following the acquisition, the business will operate under the name CMC Rebar. This entity will be integrated into CMC's Americas Fabrication and Distribution segment.

Russ Rinn, who serves as Executive Vice President and CMC Americas President, commented on the strategic value of the addition. "The addition of RSS to the CMC Rebar group will allow us to expand our presence in the growing North Texas market," Rinn stated.

He noted that the company maintains a strong reputation and an effective team, citing a business relationship spanning more than 20 years. Rinn expressed enthusiasm for the RSS team joining the larger organization.

Commercial Metals Co. is headquartered in Irving, Texas. The corporation and its subsidiaries engage in the manufacturing, recycling, and marketing of steel and metal products. Their operational network includes steel minimills, fabrication and processing plants, construction product warehouses, a copper tube mill, and metal recycling facilities. The company also maintains marketing and distribution offices in the United States and various international markets.

CMC Rebar employs about 35 people in Melissa, according to local government records.
