The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 at AT&T Stadium on Thursday night for their first win of the season. Tampa Bay outscored Dallas 17-0 in the third quarter to build a lead the Cowboys could not erase.

The Buccaneers improved to 1-4, and Dallas fell to 2-3 in front of 92,351 fans.

Scoring sequence

The Cowboys struck first when running back Javonte Williams ran for a one-yard touchdown, and Brandon Aubrey's kick made it 7-0. Tampa Bay tied it in the second quarter when rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Bucky Irving. Aubrey's 41-yard field goal put Dallas back in front 10-7 at halftime.

The third quarter swung the game. Emeka Egbuka ran 14 yards for a touchdown, Irving added a one-yard run, and Chase McLaughlin kicked a 41-yard field goal for a 24-10 lead. In the fourth quarter, Dak Prescott found George Pickens for an 18-yard touchdown, but the two-point try failed, leaving Dallas eight points short.

Offensive production

Irving ran 21 times for 165 yards, a career high, and scored on both a run and a catch. Daniels completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Tez Johnson had a single 64-yard reception.

Prescott threw for 316 yards on 24-of-42 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions. Pickens caught nine passes for 130 yards and a score, and Williams ran 12 times for 45 yards and the opening touchdown.

Tampa Bay finished with 241 rushing yards to Dallas' 50 and controlled the ball for 39:21. The Cowboys turned it over three times, on two interceptions and a lost fumble, and did not force a turnover.
