Bears Clinch Victory in Waco
The Baylor Bears defeated the visiting Colorado Buffaloes 23-13 on Saturday at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, improving their record to 3-1. The Buffaloes dropped to 2-2 after falling short in front of a crowd of 40,015 fans. Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway was the offensive focal point, completing 19 of 39 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns while throwing one interception.
Colorado quarterback Isaac Wilson countered by completing 12 of 25 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown.
Early Lead Changes Hands
Colorado struck first in the opening period when Elliott Arnold kicked a 24-yard field goal, giving the Buffaloes a 3-0 lead. Baylor responded in the second quarter with a 37-yard field goal from Rhett Armstrong to tie the game at 3-3.
The momentum shifted decisively in Baylor's favor later in the second quarter when Lagway found Gavin Freeman on a 3-yard pass for a touchdown, followed by Armstrong's successful extra point kick. The half ended with Baylor leading 10-3.
Second Half Back and Forth
The third quarter saw both teams score. Armstrong extended the Baylor lead with a 27-yard field goal, making it 13-3. Colorado answered with an Arnold 46-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 13-6.
The fourth quarter began with Colorado tying the game at 13-13. Isaac Wilson connected with Joseph Williams on a 17-yard pass for a touchdown, and Arnold's extra point kick put Colorado ahead 20-13. Williams finished the game with 11 receptions for 127 yards, while Micah Welch rushed for 35 yards on nine carries for Colorado.
Late Drive Seals the Win
Baylor answered immediately to take the lead. Lagway found Jadon Porter on a 33-yard pass for a touchdown, and Armstrong's extra point kick gave the Bears a 20-13 lead. With the game on the line, Armstrong added a 54-yard field goal to secure the 23-13 final margin.
Baylor's ground game was led by Dawson Pendergrass, who rushed for 85 yards on 16 carries. Freeman added 59 receiving yards on six catches for the Bears. The result leaves Baylor with a 3-1 record and Colorado at 2-2 for the 2026 season.
